STOCKS - Ris Orangis, Le Plan, 20/03/26

Stocks will play for 1h30 in a full Plan with Marquilly who, as with every show, has only one idea in mind, that of perpetuating this precious heritage of which he has always been the guarantor. Note that this room got a makeover in 2014 by moving and expanding but kept its legendary name. So much the better anyway.

Just like at Fertois (remember that this was the very first concert of the "new formula" trio and this, in unfavorable conditions: rainy weather and gusts of wind on the "menu") and in Mennecy, it is a hard-hitting "Cole Younger" which opens the debates in a very beautiful way. The set list, robust if ever there was one, is based on what we have seen so far. Then comes "Le Nord" (at the end of which, Christophe Marquilly will ask the public who was present in Lille in 82, a concert which gave rise to the legendary live Enregistré En Public -Recorded In Public-) followed by the steamroller, the aptly named "Caracas" this time in an integral version, on which my comrades in arms and I repeat the famous chorus at the top of our lungs, and this, under the amused gaze of friend Fred Nicolle, bassist of his condition. The group has remarkable sound, sublime lights, but also superb behind-the-scenes animation. The different album slides also appear successively, reminding some nostalgic fans of the group how excellent these opuses were when listening to them.

It is obvious that our three friends have gained in cohesion, complicity on tunes that they have voluntarily stretched like "Cocaine", taking into account the fact that they were informed at the last moment that they had to perform for 1h30 instead of an hour... Christophe will share this with the public who will have fun. Then comes “Stetson Blues”, a heavy piece with a blues tempo, a title that I, for one, have always appreciated. All the cockiness of Marquilly is concentrated there in a few minutes. The album Éclats de Rock is not to be outdone since here comes “J’vais craquer”, delivered in a particularly energetic version, followed almost immediately by “Où tu cours?», taken from Trois, third album (as its name suggests) recently reissued in a package which also contains the new EP. Fabrice, the drummer, works like hell on his drum kit which he mistreats mercilessly. Impressive in its technicality and virtuosity, the Trovato astounds and delights its already won over audience because at the same time, we know the “man”, he has talent.
After an excellent “Ça m'fait tout drôle”, return to Éclats de Rock which I enjoyed listening to again recently with “La Tête à l'envers” then “Tellement Facile”, an extract from Trois. The trio is eager to present two tracks from their new EP, namely “C'était mieux avant” (the behind-the-scenes animation turns out to be delicious as can be) and “Oligarchie”, two absolutely convincing titles which foreshadow the certain quality of a fourth album whose release we are impatiently awaiting for June.
Incredible how over time the gang has literally appropriated JJ Cale's emblematic title, "Cocaine" to name but a few. Indeed, how many times have I heard at the time of the release of Enregistré En Public, "Ah yes, Stocks, the group that covers Cocaine!" And then, do you want it stretched? Well, you'll get a good 10 minutes of virtuosity whether it's from Nicolle, Trovato or even Marquilly who will never stop urging the audience to take up the famous refrain. We will have been spoiled, that goes without saying.

The Plan wants even more. Not to be asked, our three friends come and break out with a superb “Fallait que je te dise” followed by the eternal “Suzy” also performed in an extended version to the point that Christophe enjoys re-engaging on the famous riff while many spectators thought they saw it finished. Well no, we had to hold out… 1h30. lol. There couldn't be a better conclusion to this superb show.
